PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Professional Experience:

Mar. 2001 to present:

Senior Research Engineer, Ballard Power Systems, Research and Development department. As a project leader responsible for:

  • Development of next generation Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) designs for automotive and stationary applications
  • External collaborations involving evaluation of novel electrocatalysts, gas diffusion electrodes and MEA manufacturing processes for Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cells
  • Moving proven designs from conceptual stage to product development phase going through optimization steps and series of rigorous testing.

Feb. 1998 to Mar. 2001:

Research Engineer, Ballard Power Systems, R&D Department. Responsible for:

  • Optimization of proton exchange membrane / catalyst interface to maximize performance and MEA durability.
  • Rapid screening and evaluation of new MEA related technologies, materials and processes using various in-situ and ex-situ tests.
  • Development of a new, highly controllable, high volume and substrate independent catalyst deposition process based on Combustion Chemical Vapor Deposition (CCVD) technique.

    Jan. 1994 to Dec. 1995: 

Teaching Assistant, University of Belgrade, Department of Technology and Metallurgy, Beograd, Serbia and Monte Negro     

  • Studied electrochemical oxidation of small organic molecules (methanol and formaldehyde) on Silver modified glassy carbon electrodes.
  • Responsible for preparation and running lab courses in physical chemistry for students at the undergraduate program.

May 1990 to Dec. 1993:
Manager of Department for Chemical Treatment of Water, Power Plant – “Novi Sad”, Novi Sad, Serbia and Monte Negro

  • Responsible for uninterrupted operation of a water treatment facility in the 250 MW power plant and quality of produced water and steam. Achievement: successful introduction of a new polymer technology for corrosion protection.
